Really *any* Macintosh PRAM battery (IIRC very few were soldered) is a danger
if itbs inside a machine. Most from the 1988 era onwards can just be popped
out of the holder. And I recommend you do it.
I had a very similar bnuked boardb incident with my Mac SE except it was
terribad - it slipped through the net and was sat in storage for several
years. It rotted through the board, and ate a big chunk of the steel frame at
the front. It was *not* pretty.
But in particular the issue on LCs is the PRAM cell usually got popped out
(they are really east to get to, like everything on those) and never get
replaced. The power-on-off-on dodge was one I learned really early on in my
tenure as a vintage Mac person.
