I've used these with a SPARCstation 2, SS IPC, and SS 20 and various older 4:3 and widescreen LCD monitors with VGA inputs:

I like them because instead of being an adapter that ends up adding length to the rigid bits that plug in to and through gravity and bumping this add stress to video connectors, it's instead a complete cable with normal size plugs on the ends.

I think I've been mostly lucky with these monitors just working with my various SPARCstations. But I did pick out those monitors because web searches made me pretty confident all the used LCD displays I buy support sync on green, which I somewhere picked up is a thing that is needed for monitors that connect to SPARCstations.  I don't know the sync on green is really a requirement, but I've had no problems at all with the few sync-on-green capable VGA LCD monitors that I've used on SPARCstations
