Second that.  Depending on the motherboard, it's also good to check the
jumper J2301.  I recently tested a big pile of old US-II CPU modules and in
the U2 you have to get the main clock divider set right.

The Ultra 2 Service Manual may not have the info you need; the FE Handbook
from 2000 (Sun doc id 800-4006-19, vol 1, Sep. 2000) has a more detailed
breakdown.  Pages 44-49 are relevant to the Ultra2:

    U2 (A14 / Netra i/j/NFS) 501-3132 motherboard

    J2301 pins 1-2 in:  /3 mode (250MHz, 300MHz)
    J2301 pins 2-3 in:  /2 (167MHz, 200MHz) or /4 (400MHz)

(The 501-2487 motherboard is marked "pre-FCS," so it's not likely you have
one of those?)

Note, also, that they have some compatibility warnings about certain UPA
graphics cards and CPU combinations, as well as all the useful memory slot
layout and OBP version info.
