[...Linksys SRW2008...factory reset...]

Not for me. I'm using the console serial port. Honestly, if I _had_
to use a Web browser to configure it, I'd get rid of it; for most of my
purposes that is too broken to use.

Some. None that looks likely to be to be a reset switch.
On the front, it has eight 8P8C connectors for network, two "miniGBIC"
sockets marked "(Share with 7)" and "(Share with 8)", and the console
serial port. There are two unlabeled holes next to the serial port,
but they are positioned and threaded such that I have no doubt they are
for serial cable attachment screws.
On the top, it has nothing. Solid as far as the I can see.
On the right, it has a grid of square (ish - the corners are rounded
with a radius of maybe .25mm) holes which look like ventilation. I can
see the interior to some extent thorugh them; I am moderately confident
there is no reset switch hiding there. It also has four holes near the
front, positioned and threaded such that I believe they are mechanical
mounting holes.
On the left, it has the mirror image of the right, plus a hole marked
and shaped such that I believe it is for an anti-theft lockdown. As on
the right side, I can see the interior thorugh the ventilation grille
enough to be reasonably confident there's no reset switch lurking there
either. This side too has four mounting screw holes near the front.
On the bottom, it has four unlabeled holes in the case. Two of them
are screw-head-sized with extensions in the four major directions and
appear to be for wall mounting. Near that are a pair of holes,
approximately semicircles on a 15mm diameter. I am reasonably
confident that none of these conceal a reset switch.
On the back, the only hole I see is the power jack.
In principle, any of the threaded holes (mounting holes or console
serial holddown screws) could conceal a reset switch. In practice, I
think it extremely unlikely.
> Have you opened the unit up to look for a jumper on the circuit board

No. I considered this and looked the unit over and was unsure enough
how to even get started opening it that I figured I'd ask here before
starting to get potentially destructive.

No, I hadn't found that. Thank you.

Aha! That looks like the admin manual I saw references to but didn't
manage to find.
The password recovery option simply lets me boot it with the admin
password ignored. I then did a factory reset in the usual way and it
now comes up with no password.
Thank you very much! That was just the piece I needed.
And I'm grabbing the whole PDF from archive.org while I'm at it.
