That, and the LED back-lighting on all flat-panel TVs.
Those go out quite regularly as well, prompting TVs to be tossed all the time.

Its a bit more difficult to surface solder those to the flat strips they are on,
but if you can find a good deal on the replacement LED strips, this can be an easy fix.

Most of the time, they are more expensive than its worth repairing though. :-(
