[rescue] Anyone build this kit?

Andy,
I built up my Tindie kit, it works fine stand-alone, haven't had a chance to
cobble together a serial cable and give it a try.
I'm curious about your 'bad data' issue, can you expand on that?
I'd be interested in a bit more details about PCBs you ordered. It looks like
a great project, any idea of cost of the parts (too lazy to head to
mouser/digi-key and look)? What is needed to program the PIC processor - I'm
not familiar with them.
